About ebilities tests

We have developed a range of short, sharp mental agility tests for use in employment testing to help you identify job applicants who will be your quick thinkers and problem solvers. We recommend our flagship measure of raw problem solving power for all positions, which is combined with other tests when you need to focus in on a job applicant’s mental agility in working with language, and/or dealing with numerical information.

Focus on problem solving power

What’s most important when it comes to overall problem solving potential, is the ability to hold information in mind, think about it, work on it, and relate it to relevant existing knowledge. This type of mental agility requires the ‘raw power’ of working memory, and our portfolio features a renowned test of working memory power. It consists of culturally-neutral items so is suitable for use amongst job applicants from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Focus on comprehending and working with language

English is the international language of business and is spoken around the world. Outsourcing of business processes internationally and immigration for employment purposes are major factors in global employment in the 21st century. An individual’s English language ability has a substantial relationship with both career progression and opportunities for travel and further education, and people who are quick to draw on their knowledge have the advantage, as they are the ones who can “think on their feet” in conversations, presentations and meetings. Our tests sample mental agility in comprehending and reasoning with words:

Focus on dealing with numerical information

Numeracy is a vital part of the functioning of all organizations and businesses, and is critically important to job performance in many disciplines including science, engineering, economics, accounting, technology, marketing and administration. People who “stand out” from the crowd in terms of numerical ability are quick and accurate across the board in mental arithmetic, numerical pattern recognition and in financial problem solving. Our tests sample mental agility in each of these 3 areas:

Time pressure

As tests of mental agility, each question is completed under time pressure whereby an answer has to be given within a “cut-off” time. And because speed is a key part of mental agility, a test taker’s response time to each question is recorded and factored into the results.
